NYSBRA Bicycle Safety Seminar with Girl Scout Troop 4030,

NSYBRA Rep, Leona Chen and her daughter Peye, recently organized a bicycle safety seminar that was held on 9/16/18 with Girl Scout Troop 4030 in Bayside, NY. The seminar, held in a local church parking lot, discussed safety rules, basic bicycle structure, maintenance and the importance of riding free of distractions.

The girls put the instruction into practice by riding laps back and forth and around the perimeter of the lot. The practice also included a slalom around a series of eight cones. As the girls became increasingly more confident in the drills, they encouraged each other to stay in line and to ride faster.

The session wrapped up with the girls making s’mores for themselves, their families and their invited guests. We expect many of the girls will try racing in 2019!

Check out the great video of the event provided by one of the parents, Jose Castillo.

Now that’s a fun ride!

Message from the NYSBRA President

NYSBRA announces new partnership with CleanChoice Energy!  I believe most cyclists, like myself, want to help protect the environment from pollution and climate change.  One way to help ensure a better environment is by choosing 100% clean, pollution-free electricity from regional wind and solar farms.  I recently signed up with CleanChoice Energy and was so impressed with their competitive rates and how easy it was to switch that I approached CleanChoice about sponsoring NYSBRA– and they agreed!

Choosing clean energy is quick and easy; it only takes a few minutes to sign up.   No new equipment or home visit is necessary and your current utility (e.g., NYSEG) will still maintain the wires, deliver reliable service, and send your bill.

If you want to help save the planet, click on the CleanChoice Energy logo on the NYSBRA Home Page and CleanChoice Energy will make a generous donation to NYSBRA!

Please join me by switching to 100% clean, pollution-free energy and help ensure a better environment for future generations!

Thank-you!
