Race Insurance
Most RDs “sanction” their race through USA Cycling. An alternative used to be North American Cycle Sport (NACS), but they went out of business in 2021.
- RDs can also insure their events through the Essex Agency simply by filling out a short form. Essex offers very competitive rates!
- Silent Sports (McKay Insurance) is another option that is popular in the MTB community. They are easy to work with and highly responsive. Here are the applications for each type of event.
Places to buy Bib Numbers
Remember that bibs for cycling must be at least 10cm (~4″) high and 1.5cm (~.6″) wide on a large 18cm (~7″) wide by 16cm (6.3″) high plain white background. Otherwise, they are very difficult to read at high speed on both camera and by eye! If you want good results, get the correct bibs!

Results Services
Quickly posting accurate results is the key to a successful event! A reputable results service can make that happen. Although selecting a results service close to your event keeps travel expenses to a minimum, you must first ensure the provider has the tools and experience you need at your event. For example, some smaller services may specialize in small CX events but lack the high speed (i.e., FinishLynx) cameras required for high speed sprint finishes. Chip timing may be nice but cannot be used alone and must be backed up by a camera, especially for high speed finishes. Experience and reputation speak for themselves, so ask your fellow RDs for references!
