Permitting an event

For USA Cycling sanctioned events:

Before you can fill out a permit application for your event, you must be a USA Cycling Race Director (RD).  You can buy a RD license from USA Cycling for $150 or you can get one through your USA Cycling Club for free.  However, due to limitations with the new USAC I.T. system, this cannot be done on-line.  Send an email to Event Services at USA Cycling to request they add a club level Race Director license to your USAC membership.

Once USAC has added the RD license to your account, log on to your USAC account and go to the “My Account” page.  There should be a link on the left hand side for “Permitting/Event Management.”  Click that link.  From there you can click on “Add New Event” and follow the instructions.

When filling out the application for a competitive event, you can enter your proposed Chief Referee, if you have one.  If not, NYSBRA will work with USA Cycling to identify a suitable Chief Referee for you.  USA Cycling will not approve your permit until they can assign a Chief Referee.

Important: As of 2020 you must do all your on-line interactions with USA Cycling in their new I.T. system!  However, the old “legacy” I.T. system is still available.  Do not use the legacy I.T. system to create your event!
