NYSBRA established our NYSBRA Grant Program to promote amateur bicycle racing in New York State. Organizations (e.g., racing teams and clubs registered in New York State) and individuals (e.g., racers who are residents of New York State) may apply for NYSBRA grants.
There are three types of grants:
- Mission Grants, for most general mission-related activities,
- Junior Development Grants, a streamlined payment directly to Juniors, and,
- Targeted Grants, streamlined grants for specific actions in support of our mission.

Important! 2020 Funding Reductions
USA Cycling, who is our primary source of funding, has announced an approximately 30% reduction in funding to all Local Associations, including NYSBRA. NYSBRA will continue our generous grant program but beginning in January 2020 we will need to subtract 25% from all grant awards (NYSBRA will absorb the ~5% loss).
Important! 2021 Funding Reductions
USA Cycling has announced over 80% funding cuts (from original funding levels) to Local Associations. This has effectively shut down NYSBRA as the #1 sponsor of competitive cycling in New York. To address this situation, NYSBRA has decided that beginning in January 2021 we will phase out our grant program by paying out 50% of all Targeted Grant awards until we have expended our funds (which will take approximately four years). Mission Grants will continue to be fully funded on an individual basis.
Important! 2023 Targeted Grants are all CANCELED
Due to USA Cycling’s 85% funding cuts, all Targeted Grants are canceled, effective 21Jan23. We are exploring options to continue Junior Development Grants. Mission Grants will continue on an individual basis.
